ABOUT THE ARTIST

Victoria Woollen-Danner's striking and singular works are inspired by the simple elegance of the natural world and by various cultures and religions. She has been working as a jeweler for over 15 years. Also an educator, Woollen-Danner has served as Artist in Residence for the Illinois Arts Council, and has taught enameling and metalsmithing workshops at Eastern Illinois University and within the Illinois public school system.

Memory Keeper

Victoria 's work is featured in Made in Illinois: An Artisan Gallery, published by the Illinois Department of Commerce and Community Affairs. The project was spearheaded in 2000 by former First Lady of Illinois, Lura Lynn Ryan, and spotlights 100 Illinois artisans carefully selected by a multi-level jury process. Woollen-Danner's unique designs were also showcased in a solo exhibit at the Tarble Arts Center at Eastern Illinois University.

Victoria grew up on the Illinois prairie and even though she loves the open fields and wooded riverbanks she currently divides her time between Illinois and Maine, with her husband, poet and educator, Bruce Guernsey. She is discovering another kind of beauty now in the mountains and the sea of Maine. Together, Bruce and Victoria have five children and two granddaughters, along with their new puppy and General Manager, Theo.
